MS Build - The $(BuildDirectory) property.

TFS uses MS-Build as the build engine. Ms-Build gets the code from TFS code repositiry and builds it in a temporary build location and copies the build result (binaries, web sites, etc...) to the permanent build output location refered as the DropLocation.

To customize my build project, I needed to have access to the temporary build location within in build definition and I finally found the $(BuildDirectory) property which does exactly I want.

During my search, I found Sayed Ibrahim Hashimi's blog with a list of useful "MSBuild reserved properties".

MS Build The BuildDirectory property , ok that made me interested. I have begun to develop utilizing Silverlight but am finding it is a big learning curve. My earlier experience is with php, mysql, most linux based tools and flash. The challenge of utilising Silverlight to get an acceptable page structure that functions quickly in all the major web browsers, Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and Google Chrome can be a large headache which is taking me many hours to overcome. Interesting to study your views and the remarks in your web site on Silverlight. I feel the tutorial sites and Microsofts offering are strict and cover the same items, comments and dialog in blogs oftentimes covers effective methods to beat issues which leads me through the learning curve more rapidly. Thank you for the post, it has helped in a small way to get me through the migration.
